Optimize Your Existing Cabinets

If renovating your kitchen or getting new cabinets isn’t on your upcoming project list, there are still many things you can do to optimize the storage and function of your existing cabinets.

-Add pull out trays to the base cabinets. Being able to pull things out in front of you instead of getting on your hands and knees to dig to the back of the cabinet is infinitely more usable.

-Add dividers to the drawers. Permanent, fixed dividers for silverware, knifes and large utensils add more storage space and a more pleasurable experience in your kitchen instead of the removable dividers you can get that never really fit the drawer perfectly. This is one of my favorite things in my kitchen!

-Add solid doors over open shelves. If you have open shelves, but could really use more closed storage in your kitchen, consider adding doors over that space.

-Add a pull out trash. If you have the base cabinet space, install a pull out trash and you will be shocked at how much neater and roomier your kitchen feels with the trash can put away.

-Utilize a turntable or stepped shelf in upper cabinets to make accessing spices or canned goods easier.

-Do your cabinets have adjustable shelves? Consider rearranging the shelves and getting additional shelves made so you can really utilize every inch of those cabinets.

-Invest in a knife block inside a drawer to get one more thing off of the counter.
