Do I Have To Keep A Tub?
One of the most common questions I get asked from clients remodeling their master bath is “Do I have to keep a tub?” Will getting rid of a tub in the master affect resale? Short answer is no. Let’s explore.
Research says that if you have a really great shower space in the master and a tub in another bathroom in the house, your resale values will not be affected. Most people don’t use a tub, but prefer an excellent showering experience. You would be better served to put the old tub space into the shower or add storage or an enclosed toilet space.
Do you really use a tub? And I mean for more than washing the dog or watering the plants. If you really do use a tub, then put one back in. Consider just a soaking tub or go with a tub with the air bath technology. You could use a freestanding tub or an undermount tub with a stone surround. This can be a really beautiful focal point.
Think long and hard about what your priorities are before automatically assuming you need to put a tub back in the space. And you might save some money in the process. Questions? Email me at Jessica@webbercoleman.com
